This is something I've been saying since high school. At Kentwood, it was the goth kids. They wore trenchcoats (pre-Columbine), they wore heavy black eyeliner, they played D&D, they read Anne Rice novels, they sharpened their K-9 teeth to look like vampires, they wore thick chokers/chains/black, and, oh yeah, they shopped at Hot Topic. But you can apply this to a lot of stereotypical ways of dressing. Even the Seattle hipster kids who listen to KEXP.
